Redesign of market square in Ingolstadt

The new market stalls occupy the southern part of Viktualienmarkt square, opening up again the view between Neues Rathaus city hall and the theater, and keeping the footprint of the former Augustiner church’s crypt free from any kind of built volume. Along a wide alley the new stalls are placed in irregular rows in order to allow views to Schutterstraße and the northern part of the square. On its western end, along an existing double line of trees, the alley leads up to an open yard. Being loosely furnished, this yard and the market’s northern part are used as a beer garden.
