ECE-Stadtgalerie Passau

The facade of the shopping center mediates between the different scales of the surroundings and the generous functions on the interior of the building and aptly fits the built volume into the Passau downtown area. The actual building envelope retreats behind a second facade composed of colored and perforated metal panels, hence dissolving the common monolithic appearance of the shopping center. The color scheme and the staggering of the envelope quote the scale and the chromaticity of the baroque Passau facades much like a highly pixelated photograph.
