Alter Hof, Munich

The historical ensemble of the Alter Hof was complemented in such a manner, that the former castle could easily be identified as a spatial entity within the urban context. Continuous eaves, closed roof spaces and a balanced relationship between walls and window openings strengthen the homogenous appearance of the castle complex.

The revitalization of the historical quadrangle created a gap to the neighboring structure which was in turn closed by a connecting building. The light, metallic facade is a conscious juxtaposition to the massive stone structure of the former castle.
